All right-y, folks. I'm nosy curious and... well, okay, that's pretty much it. Here's a poll for you, should you wish to respond. And I never figured out how to set up a proper poll and can't be bothered, so just comment away. Feel free to post anonymously if you want, or pick and choose what to answer. I'm just curious.

1.) What fandom(s), if any, do you consider yourself to be a part of on LJ? (or fandoms you're merely interested in)

2.) In what manner do you contribute? (do you post fic/art/icons, lurk, just comment? Yes, lurking is totally contributing, stfu.)

3.) What do you wish you would see more of in your fandom on LJ?

4.) Tell me about your old fandoms: do they have a shelf life? Do you tend to abruptly fall out of love? Any warning signs you notice before the interest dies? Any fandoms you you miss/wish you were still involved in?

5.) Anything else you'd like to add, feel free!

I'll post my own response as a comment as well. Commenting to the comments of others is highly encouraged. 8D

P.S. It has just occurred to me that this is sort of a "get reacquainted" post. So, yes, please, tell me about your lovely selves and I'll see if I have anything to offer you in the way of entertainment.

1.) Doctor Who, Saiyuki (rather flimsily at this point), Stargate Atlantis, every-great-once-in-a-while Top Gear, and Good Omens when I remember I'm obsessed

2.) Generally I go the fanart route, some icons, and, once upon a time, I wrote fic (badly)

3.) FOURTH DOCTOR SLASH. Just more classic Who anything, really. Less David Tennant, plz.

4.) I miss LotRips like middle aged men miss their high school quarterback days.

5.) I love forcing music on people. 8D

Aw, now. I loved your old fic. The LotR E! True Hollywood Story parody was a classic, and I've got several of yours in my personal fic archive.

1.) What fandom(s), if any, do you consider yourself to be a part of on LJ? (or fandoms you're merely interested in)

Top Gear, LOTR, LOTRPS

2.) In what manner do you contribute? (do you post fic/art/icons, lurk, just comment? Yes, lurking is totally contributing, stfu.)

LOTR -lurk
LOTRPS, write, theoretically; read
TOP Gear - read, sometimes write.

3.) What do you wish you would see more of in your fandom on LJ?

Maturity.

4.) Tell me about your old fandoms: do they have a shelf life? Do you tend to abruptly fall out of love? Any warning signs you notice before the interest dies? Any fandoms you you miss/wish you were still involved in?

I wish I were still involved in Star Wars fandom because most of my flist is still there. George Lucas killed it for me. :/

5.) Anything else you'd like to add, feel free!

I love your picspams. :D

I do so love that icon.

*giggles*

Omg, so LOTRPS is still alive? This makes me happy inside.

I will break George Lucas's kneecaps for that. >8[

The Billy/Dom branch of lotrips is still my main fandom. I've been writing for that, and reading although not the way I used to; I no longer read any fic I come across, just mostly ones from authors I'm already familiar with.

I still write and think about j/g, and would read if anybody else was writing it.

I'm getting into Merlin and have been reading everything in sight, dropping the occasional comment, downloading screencaps, bidding on graphics sets in the recent fandom auction, reccing, uploading episodes, watching extras on youtube, and the whole deal. I just haven't made any friends there. If I ever finish and post the decent start to a story I found myself writing, I may yet.

I was reading and writing Jeeves & Wooster for a bit, but that's lulled, although not permanently. Like Hot Fuzz, it's one of my go-to fandoms for fic that will make me grin like an idiot.

I've become a bit interested in some book fandoms again recently. Havemercy, Temeraire, Sherlock Holmes (which has been an on-again, off-again interest for some years), a bit of Discworld, and Good Omens, which I used to read and write regularly. These are fandoms I don't actively seek out, but when I find a bit of fic or fanart I will enjoy it.

I've been a lurker in almost all my fandoms, save lotrips and j/g, even though I have ficlets and doodles squirreled away in notebooks. I may get involved with Merlin, or I may not. I sort of did engage myself in J&W because of the Sims 2 skins and storyline I posted, and getting one of the fandom's finest fanartists to draw based on scraps of an unfinished PWP that I sent her for inspiration. That was pretty awesome.

As to what I'd like to see: I'd like to see somebody besides me post a story to jgcrossing this year. I'd like to see monaboyd_month be a roaring success. I'd like to see more of my old lotrips comrades in Merlin fandom. Actually, I'd love to see lotrips pick up again, even more than it has recently - with The Hobbit and eventually Dom and Billy's screenplay to be made, I have great hope that it will shake awake again.

It really saddens me when I see people who used to share my interests say that the fandom is dead. If they're not interested in it anymore, that's okay, but that hardly means nobody is.

I never entirely fall out of love with my fandoms. That's just not me. I might be devoting energy to a different one, but that doesn't mean I'm not still into the others. Occasionally I will run up against the limits of one of my fandoms - I used to be interested in Magic Knights Rayearth in high school, reading and writing fic and making a gallery and character profiles on my old-school Geocities site, but there's really not much more going on there. No new material in ten years, and the characters are too young for me now.

I used to read and write and draw Trigun in a pretty serious way (this is an understatement), and though I haven't created for it in a long time, I was watching it again last month, and it's still as great as it was.

I guess it's not about which ones I don't love anymore, but which ones I'm fixating on at the moment, which ones give me joy and energy to indulge in. For me right now, that's Merlin.

And WoW. I've been following wow_fanart and now I'm writing this stupid wonderful epic practice novel, and maybe something readable might even come of it.

I, too, love to share music. Want to trade? You give me a song, I'll listen to it, and give you one back, and you listen to that and give me one back... ? :D

ETA: Wtf, I forgot Due South! I knew I was missing something! I watch and read and love and squee. There.

I am so glad to hear that Monaboyd isn't dead. I had looked about in a couple of comms at one point and nothing had been posted in years, and I didn't see anyone on my flist talking about it, so I assumed it had dropped off the face of the earth. I kind of want to go back and reread old fic now, omg. *joins mondaboyd_month*

I love the thought of J/G, and have pondered it many a time... but I fail at coming up with ideas, or I would post something.

A lot of my flist is into Merlin - I think if I get into it RIGHTTHISINSTANT, I can join in the fun instead of arriving at the party two years two late, as seems to be typical. ><

I still <3 WoW, but can't afford it, woe. I enjoy fanart and comics but hadn't thought to find anything on LJ - thanks for the link. 8D

HOT FUZZ. I need to get into that fandom!

Music trade sounds awesome! I was thinking of doing a wee music spam this evening, actually. 8D

1) Doctor Who with a side of Torchwood.

2) Fic, RPGs, the occasional icon, plus discussion

3) Less batshit, but that'll never happen--just the nature of the fandom, sadly.

4) Star Wars--still somewhat involved but nowhere near the level I used to be.

5) I have my little corners of sane fandom on the net that I hang out in, and heart them so.

I wonder if the degree of batshit in Who fandom has to do with how enormous and all-encompassing it is? I imagine Star Wars is the same way, though. DW is the first fandom I've been in in which I didn't fall into a sort of already established niche.

1) Lost & Dom. Is politics a fandom? :D
2) Manage comms, find photos, news, etc. (AM NOT CREATOR)
3) less WANK, more discussion :D
4) Yup, nope. It's not so much shelf life as natural time span. Like, Buffy is off the air. There are only so many times you can discuss themes without coming back to the beginning ;)
5) SMOOCH.

1) Politics has to be a fandom, the sheer amount of wank it manages to generate... XD

2) Managing is just as creative a contribution!

4) I have a tendency of falling in love with pretty much dead things, woe. You make a good point.

1. Saiyuki, Bleach, Ai no Kusabi, Weiss are what I'm active in (if you can call the infrequent posing I've been doing active). I'll read a wide variety of things though.

2. I post fiction, comment where I can and sometimes just lurk.

3. More tolerance of pairings that aren't of your OTP. There can be other good pairings aside from charX/char B.

4. FF8. You still see it around but not so much any more. I still enjoy it quite a bit and have a fic or 2 that I need to finish off in that fandom.

5. I've missed you and I hope to see you around more.

3.) I'm guilty of this. -_- It's the way I'm programmed, and I'm actually a lot better than my first days in slash fandom -- if anyone other than my OTP even deigned to look at the other guy, OMG HELL TO PAY.

5.) I'm not going to say I'm going to try to be more active, 'cos we all know how that goes, but. I am. And I always miss you, and I can't wait to read the Saiyuki you posted in a bit. 8D

1.) Currently, Watchmen. There's a load of other stuff I could mention as I tend to flit about buuut I won't. I'm easily distracted by shiny new things (or being reminded of how much I love a shiny old thing). My true goal is to be a sort of "renaissance man" of fandoms. Someday~

2.) Erk, I don't think I've ever really contributed to much D: I'm generally terrified of posting in communities etc. so I lurk a lot.

3.) Good, porny fan art. I want smuts! But overall I'm quite pleased with its content thus far.

4.) I too miss the glory days of LOTR fandom. That was pretty much my first fandom experience. Heady days, man. Of course, in my case, it was just a bunch of creepy lurking. B-but still. I also miss SGA as I probably felt the most comfortable in that fandom and managed to make some friends/post some stuff. I drifted away and want to work on swimming back, as it were.

5.) Ffff I type a lot. Also I like yous <3

YOU CONTRIBUTE OMG. On dA, you were totally contribut-- oh, wait, I said LJ. Okay, but still.

4.) Me, too, except I didn't know better and didn't lurk, I posted EVERYWHERE. XD

I LIKE YOUS ALSO.

Your drawings are not very odd, nor are they even odd. Don't make me go all capslock on you.

3.) I would like to echo/shout from rooftops/demand this. Although demanding probably wouldn't be very generous.

5.) I'm with you on 5 - when it's good, it's fantastic, but when it's... well, anything other than good, it's sort of foul.

1.) What fandom(s), if any, do you consider yourself to be a part of on LJ? (or fandoms you're merely interested in)

Doctor Who, Sarah Jane Adventures, Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean

2.) In what manner do you contribute? (do you post fic/art/icons, lurk, just comment? Yes, lurking is totally contributing, stfu.)

I do tend to lurk a lot. Other than that, I write and sometimes make Shiny Computer Junk.

3.) What do you wish you would see more of in your fandom on LJ?

Me >.>

4.) Tell me about your old fandoms: do they have a shelf life? Do you tend to abruptly fall out of love? Any warning signs you notice before the interest dies? Any fandoms you you miss/wish you were still involved in?

I tend to circle back around to certain fandoms, but they fade in and out. Final Fantasy, Clock Tower, and Resident Evil are the prominent ones.

5.) Anything else you'd like to add, feel free!

I tend to, uh, borrow Sarah Jane's journal, as you can see, but my journal is darknessmatinee

*drum roll*
1.) What fandom(s), if any, do you consider yourself to be a part of on LJ?
I was a part of the Gundam Wing fandom, and a bit in the Final Fantasy (mostly VII) and FMA and Naruto fandoms. I've read Harry Potter too. I didn't go far into most of those because there are rabid fangirls lurking in wait.
I'm not too hardcore, but I prolly read a few fics for other things too.

2.) In what manner do you contribute?
I don't at all anymore, really. I lurk. I read things the authors that I love post. Sometimes I comment. I do not go looking for new fics. there is too much pain out there.

3.) What do you wish you would see more of in your fandom on LJ?
Intelligence, well-written fic

4.) Tell me about your old fandoms: do they have a shelf life? Do you tend to abruptly fall out of love? Any warning signs you notice before the interest dies? Any fandoms you you miss/wish you were still involved in?
Hm. My first one was the Vampire Chronicles. I probably read them all. Yes. All. I... was obsessed, and didn't understand that there were fics you didn't *have* to read. Anne Rice being a stupid whore ruined that fandom.
I moved on to Yu Yu Hakusho. Wow. that was a long time ago. Anyway, read all I could find that was not horrible (and my standards were lower then).
So that brings me to GW. I've been reading them ever since, along with the others mentioned above and random one-shots.

5.) Anything else you'd like to add, feel free!

Ummm... I <3 you, I don't like most people, people who write/draw for my fandoms get dumber and scarier every day...

and I <3 you. again.

Hi.

Re: *drum roll*
I think the general consensus seems to be that people on the internet are stupid and crazy - except my flist! *beams proudly*

Omg, I understand the "I MUST READ EVERY FIC" phase. Then at some point, you realise there's such a thing as badfic. Woe.

I <3 you like a mad <3ing thing, don'tchaknow.

1.) What fandom(s), if any, do you consider yourself to be a part of on LJ? (or fandoms you're merely interested in) Top Gear, Eureka, The Mighty Boosh, Futurama, Star Trek (movieverse), Stargate: Atlantis (somewhat), and I know I'm missing one but I can't remember it.

2.) In what manner do you contribute? (do you post fic/art/icons, lurk, just comment? Yes, lurking is totally contributing, stfu.) I do NOTHING. NOTHIIIIING.

3.) What do you wish you would see more of in your fandom on LJ? Non-asshattery.

4.) Tell me about your old fandoms: do they have a shelf life? Do you tend to abruptly fall out of love? Any warning signs you notice before the interest dies? Any fandoms you you miss/wish you were still involved in? I tend to jump ship once everyone else starts jumping ship. SGA, we hardly knew ye! Or I jump ship once they start wanking nonstop (hallo, Doctor Who!).

5.) Anything else you'd like to add, feel free! space! duck! 47!
